FOURTH RIDE: Tsering and Emma's Ride in Santa Ynez, California
LO Ambassador Tsering Hauenstein and Emma Johnson
Tsering and Emma’s ride will start at Sunstone Winery on Refugio road in Santa Ynez. All are welcome! To join, meet them at Sunstone Winery, 125 Refugio Road, Santa Ynez, 8:30 am PST on May 15th! You may RSVP to Kristi Hundt at (805) 350-8028 with any questions.
Bikers will safely cross the 246 highway and continue on Refugio road to the Roblar Ave and Refugio intersection. They’ll pass Dunn Middle School, turn onto Alamo Pintado, and continue past Sunny Fields Park. Local volunteers will help guide their path onto the bike path towards the high school, so they can cautiously cross 246 highway and end back at Sunstone Winery.
Tsering Hauenstein is 17 years old and says while she doesn’t yet know what she wants to pursue she knows that she wants to help people. She’s been working with Lotus Outreach International to coordinate bike ride events in Santa Ynez Valley for three years and hosted our very first 1,000 Bike event in 2018! Emma is also 17 years old and a friend of Tsering from high school. She joined the 1,000 Coffee event in 2019 and is “so excited to be a part of the project!”.
The ride spans from one side of their town to the other and passes locations such as the local high school, Los Olivos elementary school, and Sunny Fields. “By biking across our little town we hope to raise awareness for the wonderful young women in India and Cambodia,” Tsering says.
The ride aims to invite people to join the Lotus Outreach monthly giving community through the simple monthly sacrifice of coffee (or tea). Monthly giving supports a Scholarship Fund for seven access to education programs at Lotus Outreach.
