Celebrating 30 years at LO
Lotus Outreach was founded by Khyentse Norbu in 1993 in Himachal Pradesh, India to serve refugees from Nepal. As time went on, Norbu reimagined the mission of LO to serve the most at-risk women and children. As we enter our 30th year, we are for the first time expanding our impact beyond India and Cambodia. Learn about our new global impact partners and the ways we are scaling our impact for women and girls.
Why Monthly?
Collective monthly giving through 1,000 Coffee ensures a steady stream of support that scholarship beneficiaries can rely on year after year of their education through LO access to education, training, and care programs including Lotus Pedals, Blossom Bus, GATE, CATALYST, and Water In Schools (WINS). In 2021 and 2022, donations were also distributed to help cover relief responses through Rice 4 Education and LotusRelief. In 2023, LO is scaling our impact to create empowerment for vulnerable communities in new regions, including Vietnam, Guatemala, Brazil, and the USA. Sustained giving ensures we can expand our reach and impact for girls’ around the world into the future. Read more about our global impact in the LO News. Give today.
A 1,000 Community Event
1,000 Coffee aims to subscribe 1,000 community members from around the globe to give up coffee monthly. From there, who knows what we can achieve together for at-risk girls and communities on this planet? At LO, we believe in the power of collective action and generosity. Coffee drinkers and networks everywhere are invited to join us to celebrate the power of collective generosity for girls’ empowerment. So far, 250 people are sacrificing hot drinks monthly!
