EIGHTH RIDE: Steve Cline and Kate Miller’s Ride
LO Ambassadors Steve Cline, Kate Miller, and Janet Gay-Jordan
We’re delighted that on July 28th and 29th Steve, Kate, Janet, Michael (and other friends!) are riding together from Steve and Kate’s home in Ballina in coastal northern New South Wale’s region for girls’ education at Lotus Outreach and the 1,000 Coffee event. Kate and Steve say they are fortunate to have an excellent network of bike paths that they use daily since bikes are their primary mode of transportation. For the 1,000 Coffee ride they’re going further afield with an overnight trip from their home to the seaside village of Evan’s Head, for a round trip total of about 80 km. Support Steve and Kate’s ride by giving monthly through a coffee sacrifice to Lotus Outreach today!
At Lotus Outreach Australia, $35 AUD a month (less than two cups a week) or $420 AUD a year supports GATE scholars in years 7-12 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. For friends in Australia click here to give to LOA and for anyone inspired by this ride around the world, thank you for joining the Lotus Outreach monthly giving community!
More about the trail…
They’ll ride 5 km along scenic coastal bike paths into Ballina and then hit the open road, heading south out of town past Ballina’s iconic ‘Big Prawn.’ Crossing the Richmond River on the Burns Point Ferry, they’ll continue south along the river past sugarcane fields bordering the Old Pacific Highway. After lunch they’ll ride through Broadwater National Park, whose traditional aboriginal custodians are the Bundgalung people. Reaching their destination at the coastal resort town of Evans Head, they’ll stay overnight before retracing their route the next day for a total of 80 km round trip!
